Highlights of projects implemented in the last years

TOWER - Young Alumni in Business (international project between 2005-2007)
TOWER * Towards Sustainable Excellence by Innovating regions * was a INTERREG IIIC programme in cooperation between five European regions with the overall objective to share and improve methods and tools for sustainable economic growth, to encourage long-term collaboration, and to improve economic growth strategies and programmes. Within the TOWER programme, interregional sub-projects were the tools for developing innovative strategies and methods through exchange of experience and best practise between our partner regions. The activities of the programme were focused on four thematic components: 1/ Strategies for sustainable economic growth in regions, 2/ Strengthened technology infrastructure in regions and transfer to SME's, 3/ Competitive and knowledgebased entrepreneurship, 4/ Sustainable SME's

The project "Young Alumni in Business" belonged to the third thematic field. It was initiated because universities should take up a role in preparing students to start their own business. The 'educational level' of alumni makes that they almost always start a rather knowledge based/innovative enterprise. Consequently, international perspectives are necessary for them to grow. This project wanted to facilitate this international orientation of young entrepreneurs by developing tools and methodologies that help them in making contacts and build a network on international markets.

BIOEDITH (regional project between 2006-2008)
The objective of the project was to assist the cooperation between the R&D institutes operating in the South Great Plain, and the local governments and enterprises that are involoved in the economic utilization of biomass-based renewable energy.

ETAKLASZ (regional project between 2007-2009)
The objective of the project was to help the establishment of innovative clusters in the South Great Plain region which focus on the production of bioethanol, in close linkage with the BIOEDITH project.
